Modern radiology uses a number of different technologies with which to visualise beyond the skin and see the true structure and workings of the human body.

Some of these techniques use radiation,  and some of these have higher radiation doses than others.  Other techniques just use sound waves that are thought to be entirely harmless.  MRI uses only magnetism and radio waves.

Radiology Department at Nelson Hospital

• MRI services for private and ACC patients using the MRI scanner.  This is a joint venutre between NMDHB and Nelson Radiology.
